The Mayors & Water Conference 2017 will be held in Porto, Portugal, on 29 September. This year’s conference will build on the success of its predecessors in Leeuwarden (Holland) and Bratislava (Slovakia), in 2016.
The event's main focus will be the official launch of the Urban Agenda for Water 2030. Cities will use this new platform to collaborate on water issues and promote integrated and sustainable water management, thus helping to contribute to one of the European Union’s key environmental objectives.
The platform is designed to help cities find solutions to their water problems, by creating opportunities for urban regeneration and involving local communities. It also helps them adopt the intelligent water systems that will stimulate economic growth and competitiveness.
Participants in the discussion will include European mayors, specialists in city water management, representatives of local and national governments and of the various hydrographic regions, regulators, legislators, managing entities and research institutions.
